[ For all his bravado and talk, Peter still worries deep down. He might be the fastest on the team but has concerns he might just be dragging everyone down in other ways. He was kind of going nowhere back home and while this is different, while he genuinely appears to moving forward he's doubtful how long that momentum can last.
But then he's got people like Kurt to help keep him on the right track and rescue his sorry ass when he needs it. ]Almost is the key word there. Those curtains were kind of ugly anyway, she'd be doing the academy a favor.
[ But now he's got a task to do and that's enough to get him to focus back on the fact that they're breaking out of this place. ]Can I find one? Who do you take me for, Blue? I'll find all of them.
[ Which is all he says before he appears to vanish into thin air. In reality, he's just nyoomed off to find his target. It doesn't take him long. He grabs a donut from the staff room on the way, doesn't need the free coffee laid out. Caffeine is the last thing a speedster needs.
Once he's situated in front of the power box and finishing up chowing away, he- Pauses. Uhm. ] Kurt? [ He asks, knowing that the surveillance feed will pick it up. ] We might have a slight problem.
[ This is a lot of wires. A lot of ones that might do other things he's not too keen on doing like setting off an even bigger alarm or... even if he cuts it, everything will just be re-routed to back up generators that he then has to also find. ] Red is such a cliche choice. Maybe I should yank the green one? Or the grey. Matches my hair, I think that's a good sign.
[Between the two of them, the teleporter thinks it's good to have mutants like Peter around. He and Jubilee and Scott have so much more confidence than Kurt; it's a decent balance. Although, to be fair, he's been doing better about opening up to the people he calls 'friends' now, which is always a plus.
His eyes roll, head shaking in disapproval, but the smile on his face says otherwise.] What do you know about interior decorating? [he teases.] Besides, bad curtains are no reason for the mansion to go up in flames.
[And suddenly, he's thankful that he'd been able to release Peter from the prison below to help. Before he can even turn, let alone speak, the older boy is gone, leaving Kurt with his mouth briefly hanging open.] Thanks, Peter.
"Oh, sure, no problem, Kurt!" [he huffs to himself, though he can't resist the urge to smile again.
Turning back to the screen, his fingers begin typing once more, golden irises narrowing with skepticism. He has to admit, Hank's genius little mechanisms make destroying data and other important documents with a push of a button extremely simple. As he removes the device, the sound of Peter's voice over the intercom draws his attention, urging him to glance at the screen so he can hone in on the electrical box where the speedster is standing.]
Oh, marvelous. [Such sarcasm.] It's really starting to feel like an action movie now.
[He slips the jammer into his pocket and grabs the monitor with both hands, drawing it closer, brow furrowed in concentration.] Mmn ... Actually, I think you're— [an abrupt cut off, followed shortly after by the sounds of grunting.
One of the guards that'd been dealt with earlier has suddenly come back around to ruin their plans. He narrowly avoids being tackled by swinging out of the way, iridescent eyes widening as the man lunges for him once more. A quick bamf gets him out of harms way, drops him back in front of the microphone long enough for him to continue:]
Pull the— yipe! [More scuffling.] For the love of God, Peter, pull the gray one!
[ Wow, look, he doesn't want the whole academy to burn down. Just those hideous curtains! Maybe a couple other parts, too, so they could be renovated into a sick game room. Charles didn't seem to believe him when he talked about they stimulated the mind and would only benefit future students. ]
I know, right? We just need the Die Hard theme playing over the loudspeakers. Be better than the crap music those guys used to play.
[ All this new age electronica stuff. Much as Peter enjoyed video game OSTs, there was something charming about the music and culture of the eighties that couldn't be replicated.
He's still glancing over the device's bundle of wires and trying to decide when he hears that familiar poof and shout. Before he can even ask if Kurt is alright, he's getting yelled at to do something. ] On it! [ he shouts, reaching forward and yanking out the grey wire in just a blink. There's a loud vacuum sound of everything starting to shut down. The lights flicker off and dim ones take its place. Emergency exit lights. Thoughtful.
Either way, the power is definitely out now and whatever is preventing Kurt from teleporting shouldn't be a problem. But that guy who tried to tackle him might so- He rushes back to where the other boy is. ]
[That's likely going to be a long and drawn out battle, but should Peter want help with his plight, Blue would be happy to help convince the professor. He's played a few games of his own now and admittedly, they do stimulate the brain in certain ways.
He'd thought about asking what sort of music they had tortured his friend with. Unfortunately, Kurt is trying to focus on getting those lights out and things have become far less leisurely than before.
Perking at the familiar whir of mechanics shutting down, he watches as the lights go out, being replaced by emergency ones that leave him with plenty of darkness he can work with.]
Peter! [exclaims the darker haired boy, although it's a regrettable distraction.
An electric shock from a taser rod — no matter how briefly — is enough for his muscles to spasm, teeth clenching together and his entire form going rigid. One moment he's upright and the next, he hits the floor, unable to react quickly enough to keep the guard from lunging toward Peter next.]
[ With people like Kurt to back him up, he doesn't doubt they'll win. Okay, well, maybe he has a little doubt. It's a pretty ridiculous idea. That's why it'll make it all the more satisfying though should they happen to pull it off in the end.
His mind is far from the idea of an arcade though as he watches that electric shock spark in the darkness, hears Kurt thump to the floor harshly. Excuse the fuck out of you, guard, that's his friend you just tazed and he is not happy about it whatsoever. Before the guy can even blink, he's suddenly upended - falling flat on his butt - and the taser rod is in the speedster's possession instead.
It's no wonder they'd have him confined; despite being outnumbered, he could and would have torn this place to pieces in seconds flat. That's not his goal though. Right now, it's getting Kurt up and out of here before more of them show up. ]
Come on, Blue, I know it takes more than that to keep you down. [ That's his way of saying he better get up and moving before Peter feels the need to worry. He's assisting him, of course, lending a hand to hoist the other boy up onto his feet again before more guards decide to show up. ]
[Yes, it will absolutely take more than a shock like that to keep him down, but that doesn't mean it hurts any less. He lies there for a long minute, still stunned enough to remain unmoving, except for the occasional muscle spasm in his legs.
Even though he's dazed, Kurt can see that Peter is now holding the weapon, which is a great relief. Now, if he were the vengeful type, he'd have leaped up and taken the rod, maybe jammed it straight into the guard's throat to give him a real good wallop of electricity, but one: he's not that kind of mutant and two: they don't have the time or luxury, so there wouldn't have been a point either way.
It aches and he doesn't want to get up, but he catches sight of Peter's hand and forces himself to reach, grasping tight while the other boy aids in helping him up. He lifts his free hand to grip Peter's shoulder, bracing himself as his knees wobble, threatening to give way.] Th-thank you, [he manages, wincing at the dull throb the taser has left behind. (There's more to it-- he just hasn't noticed yet.)]
Hold on. [Is the only warning he offers and just as the watchman is getting back to his feet, the door pops open behind them to reveal a half-dozen or so more of them, Kurt shuts his eyes, inhales and the two of them disappear with a bamf, leaving behind a haze of midnight colored smoke for the men to shout at.
So, maybe he didn't need to teleport them as far as he has. Better safe than sorry, he can imagine Hank saying, which is why once they're about twenty miles out, the younger of them finally ceases the rapid displacements, feeling like he's put a safe amount of distance between them and the facility. Slowly, a very deliberate motion, Nightcrawler turns to his friend.] Sorry, [he murmurs, lowering an arm that way he can cup a hand against his side where the rod had struck him, doing his best to distract from the fact he's been stabbed by asking:] Are you okay?
[ It's a dizzying, disorienting ride to be displaced in time-space so many times in rapid succession. He's not sure how Kurt does it all the time so easily. Maybe it's different if you're born with it, kind of like his super speed. While Peter is fast, he's usually got his feet firmly planted on the ground and charges ahead. This just feels like jumping through nothing and it's making him sick to his stomach, more than anything. ]
Don't- [hurk] -worry about it.
[ He's sure that the nasuea will pass soon. Besides, there are way more important things to worry about right now. While he hadn't noticed before, he definitely does now. The boy pulls his goggles up from his eyes and squints at where Kurt has been been- ]
Were you stabbed? [ He asks, almost increduously in a way. ] I'm fine. I was bored, mostly, but- I'm not the one we should be worried about here!
[ He's only angry because he cares, okay. It's how he shows affection. ]
[Like how Peter needs to support people's heads for protection from whiplash, Kurt needs whoever's traveling with him to either hang on or he'll have to be within grabbing distance. And in the same sense, Peter's body's adapted to his mutation, much like Kurt's has altered for teleportation. He still gets drained when moving others, but not as much when there are less and he's lucky-- he never has to deal with the nausea.]
No, it— it's nothing, [says the guy who's hissing in pain, although his attention is absolutely not on that.] Bored? You mean— [another sharp inhale, the hand covering his injury clutching tighter,] a-at the facility? [On account that he might be offended later if Peter means teleporting.
He releases the speedster's arm and takes a step forward, stubbornly fighting through the ache, upper-half straightening as much as he can manage.] Okay, it's something, but I'll be fine. We have to keep moving.
[Their pickup was only a few miles out and while his vision's somewhat hazy, Kurt feels like he is walking straight. He's not, though it's only the slightest sway in his step and he appreciates the concern, but Blue feels confident that he hasn't fallen over.]
Yeah, at the facility. The teleporting was cool, don't worry. Even if it made me a little barfy.
[ Maybe with time he'll get used to it. Not that he's thinking about asking Kurt to teleport them again just for funsies. Well. Not right now, anyway. Maybe eventually, but at this moment there are far more pressing matters. Like the fact that Kurt is bleeding and hurt and- They covered first aid, he knows, but he'd barely paid attention. He really regrets it now. Besides, it's not like they have anything actually use at this moment for first aid so it's not like the knowledge would be very useful.
His mind is running a million miles an hour, even more haphazard and frantic than usual because of worry. ]
This is, like, the farthest thing from nothing there is. [ Or fine. Still, Kurt does have a point. They need to keep moving. Only he's slow because of his wound and they really don't have time to lag, so- Sorry, buddy, he's going to take drastic measures. ]
Hold on, this might hurt a little. [ is all he says before crouching down just slightly and swooping Kurt right up off his feet. Princess carrying Nightcrawler isn't how he imagined his day going, yet here they are. ]
[As badly as he wants to insist that Peter not worry, part of Kurt knows that isn't going to be possible. He's obviously bleeding now, red seeping between the press of his fingers, and it doesn't look like it will stop on it's own.]
Don't throw up, [he teases between a sigh and a hiss after the breath is released.
Nevertheless, Nightcrawler continues on, blinking through the slight haze in his vision. That is, until his feet are suddenly leaving the ground from Peter sweeping him off them. His arms instinctively reach out and loop around the speedster's shoulders, eyes widening with bafflement. He's right-- it hurts like a bitch, but the blue boy's distracted enough that his only response is a quivering breath and then:]
P-Peter, what are you doing? [And no, that wasn't a yelp.]
I'm good, [ is his answer to that. He is not, in fact, good, but not because of the reasons Kurt thinks. Worry isn't a new concept but it's definitely one of the first times he's fret this much over someone that wasn't his mom.
That was also absolutely a yelp. That's alright though because Peter doesn't think less of Kurt for it; if anything, it just reaffirms what he already knew: that this is a lot more serious than he's letting on. So he's not about to say anything though his smile despite the circumstances probably gives away that he couldn't help but be a little amused by the sound.
Kurt isn't overly light by any means but it's easier than he'd imagined it would be to hoist him up. Kind of fun. Maybe he should carry people bridal style more often on his dashes. Only he's not going to go full speed, that might... make things worse? He's not sure but he doesn't want to put any unnecessary added strain on Nightcrawler's body. ]
Exactly what it looks like, getting us back home as fast as possible. You can thank me later, don't worry.
[despite the fact he was totally fine with walking, peter seems insistent on making sure they get back faster than he can walk, which — in peter's defense — is a good idea. the longer they take, the more worried others will become and if he keeps walking, there's a chance he could make the injury worse.
he briefly turns away, cheeks flushed with embarrassment, although he won't do anything as silly as struggling. out of the corner of his eye, though, kurt catches the speedster smiling and whips back around, leveling him with a glare.] If you tell anyone about that noise you just heard ... [he trails off, his tone lilting with playfulness. no, he could never bring himself to actually hurt the older boy, even if he's sheepish as all hell about that yip.]
Okay, fine. You make a valid point.
[with a somewhat defeated sigh, the teleporter drops his face into peter's neck and lowers one hand to put pressure back on the wound beneath his ribs.] Thank you, Peter.
Your secret's safe with me, [ he says. And he'll do his best to uphold his word. He might eventually try to cause Kurt to make the sound again around everyone via some genius prank... but he won't tell them beforehand about it!
His smile softens though from something amused to just warm as he feels Kurt relax a little. Good. He needs to. He's already done more than Peter could have asked for. While it's true he'd expected his companions to come to his rescue, he hadn't wanted anyone to get hurt over it. Over him. He knows it's part of the risk of what they do, being X-Men now and all, but- Still.
It sucks.
He likes the sound of him being right, but he doesn't actually comment about that. Instead, he focuses on what the other boy says after. ]
Thank you. I wasn't sure how much longer I was gonna' last in there without going crazy.
Good. [as kurt reaffirms this, he tilts his head just right, letting dual-toned bangs swing aside so he can look up at him with both of those wild eyes. he lets out a relieved breath once he feels the speedster is being truthful, ingenious pranks he might fall victim to aside.
both he and peter are aware the danger that comes with being x-men; there's never been a day where nightcrawler has gone into a mission, expecting everything to go smoothly. being stabbed isn't what he goes for, but things happen and regardless of injury, he's proud he accomplished what matters: rescuing peter.
so, hey, mission complete should he be given a say in any of it.
the teleporter shakes his head,] It was my fault you got captured, [he admits.] I'm glad Raven and the Professor allowed me to go.
[ These were risks all of them knew they were signing up to take. Unfortunately, awareness doesn't make the reality of them that any easier to deal with. Peter doesn't let himself imagine what might've happened if he hadn't gotten there just at the right time. He can't. And, thankfully, he doesn't have to because it didn't but-
He might be a little more careful from now on. Just a little. That isn't to say he won't still be a cocky little shit because that's just who he is as a person but, y'know. Effort will be made to perhaps at the very least make sure he isn't actively endangering his teammates quite as much. And speaking of being an over-confident shitheel, ]
Oh, c'mon. You really can't take the blame for all that. [ He's not about to say Kurt can't take any blame, as much as he'd like to. They'd all kind of flubbed up there though. ] It was also my fault for dashing right into a dumb trap. I can't believe I fell for that.
[ Which is about as close as he'll get to saying he was wrong, too. Savor it, Kurt. It doesn't happen often! ]
[peter can't be entirely at fault for the incident. kurt shouldn't have let himself get distracted during a tussle like that, instead of confirming the enemy had been restrained. they're young, still being taught how to handle such situations, and one way to learn is through their mistakes.
accidents happen, which is one of the reasons why he's thought about medical training. it'd help a lot of people in the long run and maybe things like this could be avoided.
he blinks, attention focused on the older boy before finally averting when he rolls his eyes. there isn't much else he can look at though, because everything's blurring by, so dipping his head again feels the most comfortable.] I know, [he acknowledges.] The whole mission was a bit of a mess, but things have been put back on track.
[oh, but he's happy for the agreement that things could have gone better. inwardly, he'll be relishing peter's admission while seeming to appear nonchalant about it on the outside.] You know, [notes the blue boy, voice muddled by lightheadedness.] I have to say, we make a good team when the time comes to act.
That's good, at least. Charles isn't too mad, right? I'm expecting to hear it once I get back.
[ Maybe neither of them are totally at fault. Teamwork, like anything, is a skill to be learn. So they'd flubbed it all up this time. There's something to be said about learning from mistakes, however, and so hopefully next time Peter won't go speeding headlong into danger and get himself(and his team) in a whole mess of trouble. That'd be something, wouldn't it? He hopes one day they can work as cohesively as say Raven and Charles. Well. When they were on the same side, at least.
They had their rough spots too but now they're working together. That has to give these kids some hope, right? It does help for Peter, a little, even knowing that the adults guiding them had to go through their own trials and tribulations before just being great. Even Raven, who was undeniably a role model for many of them, had her struggles.
So that last thing Kurt says gives him just a little contemplative pause. He gives a small, yet sincere, smile as he thinks about it. ]
Yeah, we kind of do. Mostly. Give or take a stabbing, apparently.
I don't think so. I mean, you might get a small lecture, but nothing too awful.
[with the teachers they have, there will be plenty of time for them to correct their mistakes. they'll understand, continue accompanying through whatever ups and downs life has to offer, until the younger mutants learn that working as a whole will function so much better in the long run.
thus, 'x-men' becomes a name everyone can be proud of-- even their mentors.
his eyebrows lift in surprise, one arm positioning where he can elbow peter's shoulder.] Stabbings won't be habitual for missions, [followed shortly after by an overdramatic huff.] Besides, we can pretend it never happened.

One would think it wouldn't be hard to hone control of speed, but- It was tougher than even he treated it, sometimes. ]
They better not be. [ That's all he'll say with any hint of seriousness that he was extremely worried about Kurt's wellbeing. But if he's feeling alright enough to joke, he'll... probably be fine. ]
Pretend what happened? I'm just carrying you because you got so tired being my knight in shining armor you couldn't bear to walk anymore. That's the story that we're sticking to when we get back, right?
[taking into consideration charles will have to finish kurt's scolding, too. after peter's capture, he'd braved interrupting their mentor's reprimanding to volunteer for the rescue mission. what better way to kill two birds with one stone than addressing them both at the same time?
he offers a barely there nod then blinks, attention suddenly captured when the lighter-haired boy mentions that the only reason he's being carried is because he's tired. did that ... mean what he was thinking it should?] No idea what you're talking about. [an innocent baring of fangs.] I mean, as long as you don't mind zipping us by my room before we face whatever Charles has planned for us?
[ It wasn't that he doubted Kurt, really, just knew that he likely wasn't in any kind of state to be receiving a lecture. It meant a lot to Peter that he'd want to stand in next to him and get talked to. Honestly, it meant more to him than even he was willing to admit. Just... bro solidarity and all that. Yeah. Totally. Nothing to see here, nosiree, just two dudes being buds. Absolutely!!! ]
Psht, not a problem. We'll be there and back before even Charles knows it. [ A beat. ] Maybe. Charles knows everything, so. We'll see.
[he's a little surprised at how easily that came out, but it's nothing to think about much ... right?
after raising the hand not on his bleeding side to brush his bangs back, kurt glances up, doing his best with blinking through the slight fog on his brain. it's nothing urgent-- just a little blood loss and he has a feeling they're almost home! everything is fine, so long as he doesn't think about how worried peter had been.]
Well, he is a telepath. I wouldn't put it past him to already know, but I do trust Charles when he said he'd avoid prying into our minds without our permission. [another grin, though this one is way more on the cheeky side.]
[ Peter, too, is surprised how easily that came out. Plesantly surprised, that is. It's something he's happy to hear even if he won't say as such anytime soon. There's a lot he isn't about to say anytime soon like how he kind of enjoys the way that Kurt rests in his arms. The circumstances are shitty, sure, but if it had been other time he couldn't really say he would mind.
That's a thought that's tucked away for later (read: never) though because Nightcrawler is, in fact, bleeding. He's looking worse by the minute too with that foggy stare and - it might just be his imagination, honestly - getting colder under his grasp. They're on a time limit and the fastest kid alive isn't about to live up to his legacy of being just a little too late this time if he can help it. ]
Yeah, that's true. I guess he probably wouldn't without pretty good reason... Honestly, I think he's probably just as glad to stay out of our heads with some of the stuff that goes on in there.
[ He is only a young man, alright. There are some thoughts better to just be unknown, even to the professor. ]
[scarred blue cheeks tinting ever so slightly, kurt inclines his head, blatantly hiding the way his smile widens, despite his slight embarrassment. he likes peter-- maybe more than he's ready to admit just yet, but for now, knowing that his fellow mutant is appreciative of his offer seems to be enough.
and if it's any consolation, he's still breathing easy, tail flicking this way and that in a rather effortless manner. so, the coolness of his skin could be nonexistent, but the fact he leans closer, like he might be seeking some extra body heat says a lot. better safe than sorry, at this rate.

Oh, yeah, I imagine the professor's seen some pretty out there stuff. My mind's probably not got too much he hasn't seen but- Still! Some things better left unseen. A guy's got to have some mystery, doesn't he?
[ As if 'mysterious' was ever an adjective that could be used to describe Peter Maximoff. Obnoxious, maybe, but certainly not anything along the vein of 'mysterious.' ]

He'd thought about asking what sort of music they had tortured his friend with. Unfortunately, Kurt is trying to focus on getting those lights out and things have become far less leisurely than before.
Perking at the familiar whir of mechanics shutting down, he watches as the lights go out, being replaced by emergency ones that leave him with plenty of darkness he can work with.]
Peter! [exclaims the darker haired boy, although it's a regrettable distraction.
An electric shock from a taser rod — no matter how briefly — is enough for his muscles to spasm, teeth clenching together and his entire form going rigid. One moment he's upright and the next, he hits the floor, unable to react quickly enough to keep the guard from lunging toward Peter next.]

His mind is far from the idea of an arcade though as he watches that electric shock spark in the darkness, hears Kurt thump to the floor harshly. Excuse the fuck out of you, guard, that's his friend you just tazed and he is not happy about it whatsoever. Before the guy can even blink, he's suddenly upended - falling flat on his butt - and the taser rod is in the speedster's possession instead.
It's no wonder they'd have him confined; despite being outnumbered, he could and would have torn this place to pieces in seconds flat. That's not his goal though. Right now, it's getting Kurt up and out of here before more of them show up. ]
Come on, Blue, I know it takes more than that to keep you down. [ That's his way of saying he better get up and moving before Peter feels the need to worry. He's assisting him, of course, lending a hand to hoist the other boy up onto his feet again before more guards decide to show up. ]

Even though he's dazed, Kurt can see that Peter is now holding the weapon, which is a great relief. Now, if he were the vengeful type, he'd have leaped up and taken the rod, maybe jammed it straight into the guard's throat to give him a real good wallop of electricity, but one: he's not that kind of mutant and two: they don't have the time or luxury, so there wouldn't have been a point either way.
It aches and he doesn't want to get up, but he catches sight of Peter's hand and forces himself to reach, grasping tight while the other boy aids in helping him up. He lifts his free hand to grip Peter's shoulder, bracing himself as his knees wobble, threatening to give way.] Th-thank you, [he manages, wincing at the dull throb the taser has left behind. (There's more to it-- he just hasn't noticed yet.)]
Hold on. [Is the only warning he offers and just as the watchman is getting back to his feet, the door pops open behind them to reveal a half-dozen or so more of them, Kurt shuts his eyes, inhales and the two of them disappear with a bamf, leaving behind a haze of midnight colored smoke for the men to shout at.
So, maybe he didn't need to teleport them as far as he has. Better safe than sorry, he can imagine Hank saying, which is why once they're about twenty miles out, the younger of them finally ceases the rapid displacements, feeling like he's put a safe amount of distance between them and the facility. Slowly, a very deliberate motion, Nightcrawler turns to his friend.] Sorry, [he murmurs, lowering an arm that way he can cup a hand against his side where the rod had struck him, doing his best to distract from the fact he's been stabbed by asking:] Are you okay?

[ He's sure that the nasuea will pass soon. Besides, there are way more important things to worry about right now. While he hadn't noticed before, he definitely does now. The boy pulls his goggles up from his eyes and squints at where Kurt has been been- ]
Were you stabbed? [ He asks, almost increduously in a way. ] I'm fine. I was bored, mostly, but- I'm not the one we should be worried about here!
[ He's only angry because he cares, okay. It's how he shows affection. ]

No, it— it's nothing, [says the guy who's hissing in pain, although his attention is absolutely not on that.] Bored? You mean— [another sharp inhale, the hand covering his injury clutching tighter,] a-at the facility? [On account that he might be offended later if Peter means teleporting.
He releases the speedster's arm and takes a step forward, stubbornly fighting through the ache, upper-half straightening as much as he can manage.] Okay, it's something, but I'll be fine. We have to keep moving.
[Their pickup was only a few miles out and while his vision's somewhat hazy, Kurt feels like he is walking straight. He's not, though it's only the slightest sway in his step and he appreciates the concern, but Blue feels confident that he hasn't fallen over.]

[ Maybe with time he'll get used to it. Not that he's thinking about asking Kurt to teleport them again just for funsies. Well. Not right now, anyway. Maybe eventually, but at this moment there are far more pressing matters. Like the fact that Kurt is bleeding and hurt and- They covered first aid, he knows, but he'd barely paid attention. He really regrets it now. Besides, it's not like they have anything actually use at this moment for first aid so it's not like the knowledge would be very useful.
His mind is running a million miles an hour, even more haphazard and frantic than usual because of worry. ]
This is, like, the farthest thing from nothing there is. [ Or fine. Still, Kurt does have a point. They need to keep moving. Only he's slow because of his wound and they really don't have time to lag, so- Sorry, buddy, he's going to take drastic measures. ]
Hold on, this might hurt a little. [ is all he says before crouching down just slightly and swooping Kurt right up off his feet. Princess carrying Nightcrawler isn't how he imagined his day going, yet here they are. ]

Don't throw up, [he teases between a sigh and a hiss after the breath is released.
Nevertheless, Nightcrawler continues on, blinking through the slight haze in his vision. That is, until his feet are suddenly leaving the ground from Peter sweeping him off them. His arms instinctively reach out and loop around the speedster's shoulders, eyes widening with bafflement. He's right-- it hurts like a bitch, but the blue boy's distracted enough that his only response is a quivering breath and then:]
P-Peter, what are you doing? [And no, that wasn't a yelp.]

That was also absolutely a yelp. That's alright though because Peter doesn't think less of Kurt for it; if anything, it just reaffirms what he already knew: that this is a lot more serious than he's letting on. So he's not about to say anything though his smile despite the circumstances probably gives away that he couldn't help but be a little amused by the sound.
Kurt isn't overly light by any means but it's easier than he'd imagined it would be to hoist him up. Kind of fun. Maybe he should carry people bridal style more often on his dashes. Only he's not going to go full speed, that might... make things worse? He's not sure but he doesn't want to put any unnecessary added strain on Nightcrawler's body. ]
Exactly what it looks like, getting us back home as fast as possible. You can thank me later, don't worry.

he briefly turns away, cheeks flushed with embarrassment, although he won't do anything as silly as struggling. out of the corner of his eye, though, kurt catches the speedster smiling and whips back around, leveling him with a glare.] If you tell anyone about that noise you just heard ... [he trails off, his tone lilting with playfulness. no, he could never bring himself to actually hurt the older boy, even if he's sheepish as all hell about that yip.]

[with a somewhat defeated sigh, the teleporter drops his face into peter's neck and lowers one hand to put pressure back on the wound beneath his ribs.] Thank you, Peter.

His smile softens though from something amused to just warm as he feels Kurt relax a little. Good. He needs to. He's already done more than Peter could have asked for. While it's true he'd expected his companions to come to his rescue, he hadn't wanted anyone to get hurt over it. Over him. He knows it's part of the risk of what they do, being X-Men now and all, but- Still.
It sucks.
He likes the sound of him being right, but he doesn't actually comment about that. Instead, he focuses on what the other boy says after. ]

both he and peter are aware the danger that comes with being x-men; there's never been a day where nightcrawler has gone into a mission, expecting everything to go smoothly. being stabbed isn't what he goes for, but things happen and regardless of injury, he's proud he accomplished what matters: rescuing peter.

the teleporter shakes his head,] It was my fault you got captured, [he admits.] I'm glad Raven and the Professor allowed me to go.

accidents happen, which is one of the reasons why he's thought about medical training. it'd help a lot of people in the long run and maybe things like this could be avoided.
he blinks, attention focused on the older boy before finally averting when he rolls his eyes. there isn't much else he can look at though, because everything's blurring by, so dipping his head again feels the most comfortable.] I know, [he acknowledges.] The whole mission was a bit of a mess, but things have been put back on track.
[oh, but he's happy for the agreement that things could have gone better. inwardly, he'll be relishing peter's admission while seeming to appear nonchalant about it on the outside.] You know, [notes the blue boy, voice muddled by lightheadedness.] I have to say, we make a good team when the time comes to act.

[ Maybe neither of them are totally at fault. Teamwork, like anything, is a skill to be learn. So they'd flubbed it all up this time. There's something to be said about learning from mistakes, however, and so hopefully next time Peter won't go speeding headlong into danger and get himself(and his team) in a whole mess of trouble. That'd be something, wouldn't it? He hopes one day they can work as cohesively as say Raven and Charles. Well. When they were on the same side, at least.
They had their rough spots too but now they're working together. That has to give these kids some hope, right? It does help for Peter, a little, even knowing that the adults guiding them had to go through their own trials and tribulations before just being great. Even Raven, who was undeniably a role model for many of them, had her struggles.
So that last thing Kurt says gives him just a little contemplative pause. He gives a small, yet sincere, smile as he thinks about it. ]

[with the teachers they have, there will be plenty of time for them to correct their mistakes. they'll understand, continue accompanying through whatever ups and downs life has to offer, until the younger mutants learn that working as a whole will function so much better in the long run.

He's looking worse by the minute too with that foggy stare and - it might just be his imagination, honestly - getting colder under his grasp.
