Consider it forgotten, [he asserts. Don't think he isn't taking note of that smile, though. Knowing he's made a joke — regardless of how horrible it is — that makes Scott happy gives him a warm, contented feeling. Maybe Peter was right about making people laugh.
'Dumb boys' seems like a perfect Jean response, whereas Charles seems more like the type to roll his eyes.
Adjusting the books in his arm again, Kurt does a neat heel-turn and begins to lead them toward the day room, an excited bounce to his step.] What game are we going to play?
Good. We can concentrate on some well deserved fun.
[Once they enter the day room, Scott's attention turn right to the Atari. Fortunately for them no one has taken it, though a few other students are milling around the pool table. Yes, he thinks.]
Looks like we have it all to ourselves. You tell me: Star Wars, Mario Bros., and Donkey Kong 3 are rad. There's more than that though.
[Enthusiastic as ever, Kurt zips on over to the game station, laying claim to it before any of the others decide they want to. He rids himself of the books and gets to work on setting everything up, pausing once they have to decide on a game.]
Let's start with Mario and work our way through? Maybe Donkey Kong next!
[His head turns, fangs and eyes still gleaming.] How does that sound?
[Good call. Scott can see Kurt's laid claim on the game station and has a handle one setting it up, so he makes himself comfortable on the couch, kicking up his feet on the ottoman.]
Sounds like a decent plan. Wouldn't be a game night if we didn't start with one of the better ones.
[He grins at when the blue guy turns back.] Just put the game in and we'll play.
[The noise that attempts to escape Kurt's mouth is far from appropriate; it's an almost squeak that he's able to stifle by turning and raising one hand to cup around his face. Too much excitement, apparently!
He clears his throat.] Ja, you bet!
[And so, he does, plucking up both controllers afterward, then moving over to sit next to Scott on the couch.] Hope it's okay if I sit next to you, [teases Blue, offering one of the remotes to the blast-wielder.]
[Hey, that makes two of them. They're boys, and enjoying games is to be expected. Which is why Scott adjusts himself comfortably when Kurt sits down next to him so they're not awkwardly leaning in towards each other, letting a huff of air escape. Kurt's excitement is just passing over to him. A competitive strike is growing in his bones.]
No, of course not. [His head turns to Blue, mouth giving away a smile. His hand reaches out to accept the one controller passed to him.] You ready? I've been looking forward to this all day.
[He is. Fortunately, he thinks he's a little better at Mario than that game he played against Jean that one time.]
[He wouldn't say that he's competitive, but with how much work Peter's been pouring into helping him practice, he hopes that it pays off for his sake. Once Scott is settled, the taller of them adjusts, legs tucking up underneath him, upper half bent forward so his elbows can rest on his knees.]
And I've been practicing, [he notes.] Ready whenever you are!
[Okay, maybe there's the smallest part of him that hopes he wins at least one time.]
[The short intro comes to life on the screen playing that infamous mario tune - but yes, being player 1, Scott is ready. He presses the start button with urgency and it flicks to the map menu and then to level 1 with the two plumbers appearing next to each other.]

[Rather than the traditional option of the red and green plumbers tackling the levels in turns, Scott feels it will be fun to try out the levels working together and competing for the most points. (Pretend this function existed back then.)]
[His eyes light up with enthusiasm, head nodding and shoulders bobbing along with the tune momentarily. Once he sees what options Scott has picked, Kurt turns to look at his friend, lips quirking with amusement.]

[This (totally existing) function isn't one he's done often. He and Peter have stuck to mostly basic things, but he's adventurous and determined at this point, so there's no reason for him to back down now!] Most points wins, [he repeats, relaying to Scott that he understands their terms.
He resettles his arms, leans a bit more forward and begins moving the stick and pressing the button, lower lip tucked between his teeth, brow furrowed with concentration.]
[There's no hesitation from Scott in having his character run forward, then jumping up to the first block soon as the level comes on screen. It's a trick as old as time trying to get an advantage by getting a fraction of a second head start.
Neither has Scott to be honest, at least when it comes to Mario in particular. But that's what makes the feature fun. There's a learning curve for both of them and the luckiest one of them will win in the end.]

[His glance turns to Kurt briefly, shooting a smile. He makes his character jump and hit the '? blocks', trying to recall if anything was in them.]
[Kurt blinks, surprise blatant on his face at Scott's ability to take the lead, even if it's only a split second more quickly than his own character. He's not put off, though, urging the stick over with all the vigor he can manage. There might be a slight tilt to his stature as he leans further onto his knees, too.]
I wouldn't dream of it.
