[Well, Kurt's feel isn't wrong. There's a lot Scott isn't saying, some part of him that wants to be by himself right now too. But another part wants to show that he is okay, hide away that the thoughts of Thanksgiving and his deceased brother are even an issue. It's different than how he wants to avoid his parents because they're people he has to see everyday, friends, a second family. He doesn't want to make them worry about him and enjoy their holiday less.

That's why he keeps it in. It's easy to do if they talk about something, anything. Scott keeps the conversation going with a smile and a nod,]

Yeah! Me too. The best part is no school work. [Nothing like adding a joke in to cover him. Though the next part gives him pause.] Huh, no. I think I'll stay here. Professor X said we can train more if we want ... Why?

[Just wait a sec, Kurt. It'll dawn on him in 3, 2...]

You want to kick it somewhere?

[He's a good friend for all of the above.

The part about Kurt being the only one to enjoy class does earn a small chuckle.]
Yeah. Just about. [Because Kurt's enthusiasm hasn't worn thin like the average teenager yet. Nor has the blueberry's ability to understand something in another fashion. Scott shakes his head, waving his hand between them a bit.]

No, not exactly where I was going with that. I mean do something fun. Have some down time.

[He's rooting for you, Kurt.]

Huh, oh. You got me there, I guess. Glad I don't know where we can find puppies around here... [Is that too awkward to add? Probably. Scott is going to drop the terrible joke between them before someone like Jean reads their minds and calls them monsters.]

Cool, yeah. Wanna try grabbing the Atari before anyone else does?

[Inappropriate snort meet your best friend: inappropriate snort in turn. Scott's mouth crooks into a sheepish smile trying to push the reaction down as soon as it happens and shakes his head to get a hold of himself.]

No. It's my bad. I guess I really shouldn't have added more to the joke. [Not the he means it was a good joke! Dude, they should totally just forget about it now. It doesn't make them anything, but two dumb boys, yet.

Jesus. He's not even thinking of the Professor. Thank God for that.]

Come then.

Good. We can concentrate on some well deserved fun.

[Once they enter the day room, Scott's attention turn right to the Atari. Fortunately for them no one has taken it, though a few other students are milling around the pool table. Yes, he thinks.]

Looks like we have it all to ourselves. You tell me: Star Wars, Mario Bros., and Donkey Kong 3 are rad. There's more than that though.

[Good call. Scott can see Kurt's laid claim on the game station and has a handle one setting it up, so he makes himself comfortable on the couch, kicking up his feet on the ottoman.]

Sounds like a decent plan. Wouldn't be a game night if we didn't start with one of the better ones.

[He grins at when the blue guy turns back.] Just put the game in and we'll play.

[Hey, that makes two of them. They're boys, and enjoying games is to be expected. Which is why Scott adjusts himself comfortably when Kurt sits down next to him so they're not awkwardly leaning in towards each other, letting a huff of air escape. Kurt's excitement is just passing over to him. A competitive strike is growing in his bones.]

No, of course not. [His head turns to Blue, mouth giving away a smile. His hand reaches out to accept the one controller passed to him.] You ready? I've been looking forward to this all day.

[He is. Fortunately, he thinks he's a little better at Mario than that game he played against Jean that one time.]

[The short intro comes to life on the screen playing that infamous mario tune - but yes, being player 1, Scott is ready. He presses the start button with urgency and it flicks to the map menu and then to level 1 with the two plumbers appearing next to each other.]

Yeah. I am.

[Rather than the traditional option of the red and green plumbers tackling the levels in turns, Scott feels it will be fun to try out the levels working together and competing for the most points. (Pretend this function existed back then.)]

Alright, show me. Most points wins?

[There's no hesitation from Scott in having his character run forward, then jumping up to the first block soon as the level comes on screen. It's a trick as old as time trying to get an advantage by getting a fraction of a second head start.

Neither has Scott to be honest, at least when it comes to Mario in particular. But that's what makes the feature fun. There's a learning curve for both of them and the luckiest one of them will win in the end.]

Sounds good. Wasn't thinking I should take it easy on you.

[His glance turns to Kurt briefly, shooting a smile. He makes his character jump and hit the '? blocks', trying to recall if anything was in them.]
